Our Gourmet Stops

Where to eat within 30 minutes?

Although we are nestled in a haven of peace, good food is never far away! Our region, on the border between Provençal flavors and Alpine traditions, is full of restaurants that showcase fresh produce.

Whether you’re looking for a bistro atmosphere, a terrace with a view of the Citadel, or a gourmet experience, here are our favorite places to lunch near the house. For dinner, you can always enjoy our table d’hôte if you’re staying with us, or the inn on evenings when it’s open.

Restaurants de Provence

1. Our favorite bistronomic spot: L’Oppidum (Sisteron)

25 minutes away Located in the heart of Sisteron, in a pedestrian alleyway, this restaurant is a real gem. The chef offers inventive, colorful, and always refined market cuisine. It’s the ideal place if you’re looking for high-quality “homemade” food in an intimate and refined setting.

2. The chic and cozy stopover: Il était une fois (Sisteron)

25 minutes away This is an elegant and gentle establishment. In a cozy and beautifully decorated setting, you will discover cuisine that focuses on refinement. The chef works with subtle flavor combinations and fine ingredients with great delicacy. A calm and tasty interlude, perfect for treating yourself.

3. The refined: Le Segustero (Sisteron)

25 minutes away This is a sure bet in Sisteron. Located near the cathedral, the chef offers Provençal cuisine revisited with finesse (Sisteron lamb is often featured). The setting is elegant, perfect for a romantic evening.

4. The exceptional (the little bonus): La Bonne Étape (Château-Arnoux)

30-35 minutes away This is the region’s grandest establishment. If you have a special occasion to celebrate, Jany Gleize’s Michelin-starred restaurant is well worth the extra few minutes’ drive. A true institution of haute cuisine in Haute-Provence.

  • We love: The history of this family-run establishment and their bistro “Au Goût du Jour” for a more accessible version.

Strolling and Local Produce

The Most Beautiful Markets in the Area

You can’t stay with us without experiencing a Provençal market. This is where the heart of the region beats strongest! Between the scent of lavender, fresh goat cheese, local honey, and the sing-song accent of the producers, it’s a true cultural immersion.

Here are the weekly events not to be missed, whether you want to fill your basket or simply feast your eyes.

Marchés provençaux

1. The most unmissable: Sisteron

When? Wednesday and Saturday mornings 25 minutes away This is the market to visit. Saturdays are particularly lively. You’ll find everything our region is proud of: lamb, tourtons, pieds et paquets, and of course the sun-kissed fruits of the Durance valley.

  • Our tip: Take the opportunity to buy a picnic and head up to the Citadel to eat it right after!

2. The most famous: Laragne-Montéglin

When? Thursday mornings 20-25 minutes away Ranked among the most beautiful markets in the Southern Alps, the Laragne market is an explosion of color. It is very large and you can find everything there: food, clothing, crafts. The atmosphere is typically Provençal, very lively and warm.

  • Our tip: It gets very busy in summer, so try to arrive before 10 a.m. to find parking easily and enjoy the cool morning air.

3. Local market: La Motte-du-Caire

When? Thursday morning (small market) On site No need to take the car! Our village welcomes a few local producers to the square. It’s the perfect opportunity to buy just what you need (fruit, vegetables, cheese) without leaving the village, and chat with the locals.

  • Our tip: Perfect for a relaxing morning when you don’t want to rush around.

4. Monday excursion: Forcalquier

When? Monday morning 45-50 minutes away It’s a little further away, but it’s THE legendary market of Haute-Provence. If you’re there on a Monday, it’s well worth the trip. It’s huge, takes over the whole town and attracts artisans from all over the region. A real tourist attraction in its own right.

  • Our tip: Combine the market in the morning with a visit to Les Mourres in the afternoon.
